︎Performace, Buffalo NY
The Live Performance was held respectively on Seneca and Haudenosaunee
land at the University at Buffalo North campus in hope to strike a conversation
about decolonization practices needed to be taken by the institution at large.
Buffalo, NY. USA.
I created bondage like restraint out of porcupine quills, felt and cotton.
I performed wearing these strips which censored my eyes, mouth and my ability to
move within an elevator space at the University at Buffalo. Playing on concepts of
agency or lack thereof, representation of indigeneity at the University and
appropriation of imagery that I find myself surrounded by. While wearing the
bondage I rode the elevator up and down for an hour, having students, teachers
and faculty come in and out fo space as they pleased.
